Why this role matters
As Laboratory Technician specialized in microbiology you will be responsible for keeping a microbiology laboratory well-maintained, from cleaning and sterilizing surfaces and equipment to organizing and cataloging samples. You also perform standard testing procedures and analyses. You assist researchers with designing and conducting experiments, and then carefully observing and reporting on the results.
You work together with a team of Phage Specialists from Vésale Bioscience - Inteliphage. You will assist the Lab Manager in the organization and follow up of the R&D projects.
What your days could look like
Your Key Responsibilities
- Prepare samples for indicator organisms, pathogens, and bacteriophages
- Apply aseptic techniques in daily workload
- Maintain media and reagents as needed for daily microbiological testing
- Inventory and report expendable supplies/materials needed for testing requirements
- Provide routine preventive maintenance by daily cleaning, sanitizing, and trash disposal
- Independently pursue an assigned series of processes, procedures, or techniques in accordance with Vésale Bioscience - Inteliphage’s policies and procedures
- Maintain laboratory condition, to include equipment, supplies, quality assurance programs, and accurate records throughout all procedures
- Perform all activities in a neat, safe, hygienic, and efficient manner
- Share information in an open, and timely manner
- Assist with managing priorities and schedule such that individual goals as well as team goals are achieved
What you bring to the table
- You hold a High School diploma or a Bachelor degree in Life Science
- Associate degree in Life Science or two years of laboratory experience in microbiology
- You have a broad knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures used in a microbiology laboratory
- The knowledge of bacteriophages is a plus.
- You are organized and able to implement laboratory routine programs.
- You communicate clearly and concisely.
- You have good interpersonal skills, and you federate teams.
- Coming to the lab in Louvain-la-Neuve will be part of your routine ( occasional remote work possible)
- Speaking English is a plus.
